Stageshow Pizza - Beckley, WV
On April 1, 1995, Judy Hackney opened Stageshow Pizza in the former Heck’s building in Beckley, WV. The location would be advertised as catering to families and “those just wanting to catch dinner in an alcohol and smoke-free environment”. The store featured a Classic Rock-afire Explosion show along with a Show Selector, which was purchased for $100,000. Before opening, technicians sent by Creative Engineering spent more than a week perfectly adjusting and fine-tuning the band for its debut. Upon opening, the location was an immediate success. One newspaper article cites families and even a newspaper reporter singing along to “Heard It Through The Grapevine” by Beach Bear. Alongside the Rock-afire, the arcade boasted 40 arcade games and some children’s rides.
In 1998, the Beckley area experienced a severe blizzard, which damaged the roof of Stageshow Pizza, causing it to close. The restaurant wouldn’t reopen until 2000, when it relocated and rebranded as Animal House Pizza.
