Burt “Sal” Wilson Tribute (1955-2023)

Burt Wilson, also known as "Sal" or "Bubba Whoopass" Wilson was a man of many names and talents.

Wilson was a founding member of the band Clutch - a 1950s cover-band that played in the Louisiana crawfish circuit plus larger venues in Florida, Georgia, and other locales around the South. He often embodied a nerdy Boy Scout character during his performances with Clutch and had once heard the name Salvador and decided "that's my nerd name." The name stuck.

In our circle, we remember him fondly as the one and only voice the Fatz Geronimo. After his time voicing Fatz, Wilson continued on to play music throughout the rest of his life. He will missed by friends, family, and the thousands of fans of his work.

Although we can never repay Sal for the countless memories he's given us, we wanted to pay tribute to a man who's body of work has meant so much to so many people.

Thank you to ShowBizMidwest and Juju Magumbo for the footage used in this video, and thank you to Burt "Sal" Wilson for your gift of music that will live on forever..
