         Abstract

A first-person perspective boxing game where you
fight six boxers in the WVBA. The player character
is a green wire frame model who must defeat all the
opponents to become the champion. The
commentator says "Body blow!", "Stick and move!"
and "Great fighting! You're an up and coming
         boxer!"

         Cheats, Tricks and Bugs

To score a quick knockdown on both Bald Bull and
Piston Hurricane, pop them in the head when they
charge you. Look for them to back off for a second,
then when they run in toward you, let them have it
with a quick left. Watch for their eyes to flash in the
earlier rounds to get the timing down for the later
         ones.

         Description

The top monitor is used for statistics while the
bottom is used to display the game. The game has
two speakers, one wired to each monitor. One
speaker is used for the commentator, the other for
         the crowd noise and music.

The World Video Boxing Association boxers are
         fought in the following order:

        1.Glass Joe: Paris, France - 112 lbs.
         2.Piston Hurricane:Cuba - 176 lbs.
         3.Bald Bull:Istanbul, Turkey - 298 lb.
         4.Kid Quick: Brooklyn, N.Y. - 210 lbs.
         5.Pizza Pasta: Napoli, Italy - 235 lbs.
         6.Mr. Sandman:Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - 312 lbs.

         Gameplay

The object of the game is to beat up your opponents.

Glass Joe basically stands around waiting to
              lose. No real strategy there.
For Piston Hurricane, stick with body blows,
and wait for that charge. If you miss the
knockdown, block up, then down, etc, until he
              stops.
Bald Bull will charge at you as well, but is
easier to knock down than Piston Hurricane.
For Kid Quick, set him up with a right to the
head. He'll counter, then dodge and hit him
with three left jabs. Repeat until you knock
              him out.
Pizza Pasta will grab you -- dodge right then
pummel his head until he's down -- he won't
              fight back.
Mr. Sandman is fast, but very predictable.
Just dodge and counter and you'll be fine.

After winning the belt, the fighters are more difficult,
and Kid Quick doesn't appear at all; ditto for Pizza
Pasta after his second appearance. The biggest
hurdle to overcome is Piston Hurricane; he will run
down the clock. For Mr. Sandman, Bald Bull and
Glass Joe, don't lead with the left since they will jump
around it and nail you every time.

         Legacy

           1.Punch-Out!!
           2.Super Punch-Out!!
           3.Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!

         Miscellaneous

SPINOFF: Arm Wrestling (Bald Bull even makes an
         appearance here as 'Mask X'!)

         Trivia

Other Nintendo characters appear in the audience.
Look for Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Donkey
         Kong Junior.

Super Punch-Out!! (arcade, 1985)

Manufacturer: Nintendo
         Year: 1985
         Class: Wide Release
         Genre: Sports
         Type: Video Arcade
         Monitor:

              Orientation: Horizontal
              Type: Raster: Standard Resolution
              CRT: Color

         Conversion Class: unique
         Number of Simultaneous Players: 1
         Maximum number of Players: 1
         Gameplay: Single
         Control Panel Layout: Single Player
         Controls:

Buttons: 3 - Punch Left, Punch Right, Hook/Uppercut

Sound: Unamplified Mono (requires one-channel amp)

This way to a very nice flyer for the Super Punch-Out!! arcade game (Japanese Version)

         Abstract

This is a boxing game where you attempt to defeat five different champions:
1.Bear Hugger
2.Dragon Chan
3.Vodka Drunkenski
4.Great Tiger
5.Super Macho Man

If you defeat all five, you become the champion and defend your title against the same five characters.

         Gameplay

Similar to Punch-Out!! but now the player can duck
by pulling up -- not merely pressing up -- on the
joystick. This move is required to dodge Super
Macho Man's special punch and Dragon Chan's
         Jumping Kick from the turnbuckles.
