Intermission 6
8 Minute Countdown

This is a great showtape! This show continued the old Rock-afire format in which there's a show then a video then another show. The intermissions are 8 minutes as opposed to the shorter 6 minute Rock-afire intermissions. The video footage on this show is great, since it's all stage character footage. The first two and probably even the third intermission music video on this show, were recycled from the RAE shows, and everythimg else was new. Unlike today, the intermissions were kind of slow and boring. The 8 minute intermissions consisted of various music - pop, rock, country, etc.

CU Package - The Concept Unification package came with 6 videos - the Installation tape, Diagnostics (characters), Diagnostics (Props), the two Rolfe and Earle showtapes, and the CU Premiere showtape. Also included in the package was a brand new 3.3 Eprom!

Hidden Birthday Track - The hidden birthday on a Rock-afire showtape started on #3. Now the hidden birthday starts on #5. This isn't really a "secret", however, the hidden birthday show for years at a ShowBiz was for the Rock-afire. The hidden birthday now was from CEC, never once played at a ShowBiz so it was kind of a "crossover". In most cases the sign over the door still read ShowBiz Pizza!

Introduction of Munch's Make Believe Band - This is the first Munch's Make-Believe Band showtape ever. The characters don't talk about, and the showtape has no references to, the Rock-afire Explosion at all. There is no explanation to the RAE-to-MMBB switchover either.

Temporary Usage - This show only ran in a matter of weeks before it was replaced with another showtape (whichever tape happened to be current after a store underwent CU).

Recycled Songs - Footloose will eventually become an excellent LIVE show in August 1999 with the current CEC voice actors.

-4.5 out of 5 Tokens-

This is an awesome show! The songs, the video, everything. For this time period at CEC, you wouldn't expect this kind of music. It has great songs that sound like the originals! However, for many this was a bad time, they'd gotten rid of the Rock-afire Explosion and replaced it with Munch's Make Believe Band. ShowBiz fans were furious. Most CEC fans like me were ok with it. Now CEC was gonna have a chance to look better than it had in the past. On the other hand, for ShowBiz, the Rock-afire Explosion days were gone.

(JASPER: I absolutely agree with Pizzacam...this first MMBB show is great! Although the RAE was gone, this show tried to copy the formula that made the Rock-afire so popular. But unfortunately, this didn't last long, as the CEC shows tried to appeal to kids more, and not to adults unlike the RAE. And that is where the ShowBiz fans got upset.
And I'll end this review with the ultimate question to ask any ShowBiz/CEC fan: Who remembers the first time walking into that dark showroom, and suddenly realize that Billy Bob and the RAE have been replaced by Chuck E. Cheese and the MMBB?)
