The following is a list of answers to questions and topics that all relate to ShowBizPizza.com and it's subsections. Of course, not every question is included here. If there's a question you have regarding the website that's not answered below, please feel free to contact a member of our
Staff for help.
What's the story on SP.com - how long have you been online and why aren't there any other SPP/CEC fansites of this calibur around?
VegaNova founded SP.com in Fall of 1999 and it began with two seperate websites - one for CEC and one for ShowBiz (originally titled "The ShowBiz Pizza Place and Chuck E. Cheese's Website"). That amounted to maybe a total of 10 webpages that used 5 or 6 photographs, a few images of collectables, and some rather poor sound files pulled from old vinyl records. Pretty embarassing but it had to start somewhere. Since our inception the fan community has gathered around SP.com and through the help and submissions of fellow fans around the country, we've been able to put together a literal online archive of information. Now there are hundreds of different webpages, a vast assortment of documented info, thousands of photos, a community forum, podcast, and so much more!
Why are there no other SPP/CEC sites that are nearly as extensive as SP.com? It'a a matter of hard work, dedication, and the nature of our fan community. SP.com is the result of combined efforts - what started out as one fan's dream soon grabbed the attention of others. Many parts of SP.com were envisioned by others (The Showtape Review, SP.com Forum, Showbiz Podcast, etc) and could very well have been their own websites. However due to the friendly nature of the community and the established presence of SP.com these ideas were absorbed along with the 'inventors' to create what is now a staff of webmasters. So long story short, SP.com is a grouping of seperate websites all combined into one - a site made by fans, for fans.
Is there any way I can help? I'd love to be on the staff.
SP.com is always on the lookout for new help. It's very difficult though, to hand over a section of the site to a prospective webmaster. Those who are currently members of our staff are trusted 'senior' members who have been with the site for many years. Although we would love to take on many volunteers to help with the speed and consistancy of our updates, it's often too much of a risk to hand over the passwords and access to our online data banks, and forum moderation powers.
However, there are many ways you can help. If you have anything to contribute, such as photos, information, sound or video, or anything you'd like to share, please check out our
contact page and get in touch with us! The vast majority of our content has been donated to our site by coummunity members - so your submissions are very important. Even if you don't have anything of that nature to contribute, you always have your thoughts and ideas. We'd love to have you as a member of our
online forum - here you can interact with fellow fans and let your voice be heard! It's free to sign up and a great way to involve yourself with others who share your same interests.
Why does most of this website look a certain way, but some of it looks different?
We're still undergoing the biggest and most extensive website remodel we've ever done. For the remainder of 2008 we're going to be working at this so you're probably going to find a few dead links and many 'older' pages. We appreciate your patience through this mess and you can always check out the
Updates Forcast to see what's coming up next on our 'to do' list.
